The Approach

Steered by a group of advisors the Black Boardroom Initiative helps to address the critical equity and corporate governance issue by:

  • Identifying individuals to participate in a seven-month spring to fall program; and providing them with substantive, targeted training and connections
  • Increasing the visibility and network of qualified Black director candidates with a business tie to Washington or New York state
  • Creating and maintaining a pipeline between program participants and public companies and others who may have influence in the appointment of board candidates
  • A network supported by peers and advisors

A network supported by peers and advisors

Emphasis is on opportunities for participants to network with peers, a cadre of sitting public company board members, advisors, CEOs, and investors who serve as guides to help accelerate participant readiness for board service and candid discussions of the issues unique to the Black corporate director experience.

The mentorship and connection extends beyond the life of the program to an active network of board-ready alumni and directors.
